Gene Alden Anderson was born June 20th, 1948 in McPherson Kansas to Charles Alden and Martha Eleanor (Carlson) Anderson. He was one of two children born to this union. He attended McPherson schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 1966. As a youth, he enjoyed camping, playing guitar, creating bands with his friends in the basement, and riding and working on his motorcycle. Gene graduated from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia Kansas with a BS in Business. While in college, Gene was united in marriage to Peggy Herzog from Wellington, Kansas. The young couple was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Heather, and a son, Brian.
After college, Gene managed Montgomery Wards stores all across the southern states. Gene was united in marriage to Mary Beth Kugler from Destrehan, Louisiana.
