Ralph  Elton  Gilbert

Ralph Elton Gilbert, 90, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at home surrounded by family. He was born October 1, 1923 in Salina, Ks.

Ralph was a WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He then went on to retire after 37 years of service as a carman for the UPRR.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Hazel M. (Young) Gilbert, his brother Miles J. Gilbert, his step-son Gary E. Roberts and his granddaughter Keri Anne Roberts.

Survivors include his son, Clark E. (Kira E.) Gilbert and his daughter, Leith R. (Mike R.) Dahl, all of Salina, seven grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Friday, August 8, 2014 from 1:00pm to 7:00pm with the family to receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford, Salina.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Chapel with burial to immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Riders and United States Navy Honor Detail.
