Winona Ilene Flesher

Winona (Honey) Ilene Flesher, 95, went home to be with the Lord at her home in Powell TN, April 17th, 2014, peacefully in her sleep. Mrs. Flesher was born June 15, 1918 in Scandia KS to Victor E. Anderson and Annie Cordia Olson Anderson.

She attended Scandia High School and was united in marriage to Andrew (Andy) Flesher on June 1, 1935 where they started married life on a farm in Cuba KS before moving back to Scandia and then to Concordia. She spent most of her life living in Concordia KS, moving to Salina KS in 1973 until May 2000 when she moved to Powell TN to live with her daughter Andrea.

She was employed by the Cloud County Extension Service as secretary until October 1965 when she went to work for the Selective Service System as secretary and was later promoted to Local Board Inspector traveling over the state of KS to various boards. In 1973 she was transferred to the Salina office and retired in 1976. She was a life time member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a member of Berachah Church in Houston TX and through their tape ministry, faithfully studied the Word on a daily basis.

She is survived by her daughter, Andrea and son-in-law Dean Thompson of Powell TN, granddaughter Jennifer James McLain and great granddaughter Ashley McLain of Morgan Hill CA, grandson, Bryant Flesher of Walnut Creek CA., nephew Wally Tedrow of Pueblo CO. and sister-in-law Geneva Haden of Hope KS.

She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew in 1989, and a son Arnold Dean Flesher, in 1986, her two sisters Leona Tedrow and Elaine Boslem of Pueblo CO and brother Donald Anderson of Belleville KS.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014, 10:30 AM at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia KS.
