Lancer L. Martin
On Monday, July 21, 2014, Lancer L. Martin, 76, Salina, went to be with Jesus. He was surrounded by his loving family at home. He was born August 14, 1937 to the late Hattie Graham and Kurt Martin in Parsons, KS. He was the youngest of six children.
Lancer was preceded in death by three sisters, Geraldine Briscoe, Theresa Williams, and Kathrine Lucas.
He was a member of St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church for many years where he served in various departments.
Lancer joined the U.S. Air Force where he met his wife of fifty-five years, Jaunita Thomas of Savannah, GA. After discharge, they moved to Salina where he was employed by the US Post Office for thirty seven years. His hobbies included playing golf, tennis and racquet ball with his friends.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife, Juanita; two sons, Lancer (Valerie) of Arlington, TX and Timothy (Bonnie) of Bainbridge, GA; two siblings, Arlena Prim, and Rachel Holt-Fikes (Alfred), both of Salina. His five grandchildren, Leslie, Katria, Jasmine, Will and Matthew; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also, special son, Raymond Kitchens (Anita) of Arlington, TX and a special daughter, Tammy Toothman, Salina; and many friends who were touched by his love and laughter in a very special way.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church, Salina with the Rev. Allen Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Ryan Mortuary on Friday from noon until 8:00 pm where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm that evening.
