John A. Eveleth, 77, passed away Sunday, July 20th, at his home. He was born August 18, 1936 in Breckenridge, Missouri, the son of Paul and Sylvia (Chaney) Eveleth.
John attended local schools and graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a member of the 310th air refueling squadron as crew chief on KC-97s stationed at Schilling Air Base in Salina. He also did service in Viet Nam.
John met his future wife of, Kaye Murphy on a blind date arranged by mutual friends. They were married on October 26, 1958.
John was an over the road truck driver for 40 years. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, the Abilene Masonic Lodge #98, Past Patron of the Eastern Star #421 in White City, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Salina, the Isis Shrine of Salina, Past President of the Abilene Shrine Club, Past Commander of the Isis Legion of Honor and Past Commander of the Central States Legion of Honor.
John was preceded in death by an infant son, Perry Dee Eveleth and his parents.

The family has chosen cremation.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, July 24th, at the Danner Funeral home with Rev. Shane Britt officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 5:30 to 6:30 PM Wednesday, July 23rd, at the Danner Funeral Home.
The Family suggests memorial contributions in his name be given to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Isis Shriners Childrens Travel Fund, The Elsie Brooks Cancer Fund or the Wounded Warriors Project. They may be left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
