Vera Berniece Dye, the daughter of Silas Leonard and Lavina Marie (Moger) Clark, was born on January 3, 1926 in Warwick, Kansas. She passed away on July 6, 2014 at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home at Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 6 months, 3 days.
Vera attended and graduated as Salutatorian from the Juniata School System in Juniata, Nebraska.
She was united in marriage to Ralph “Bud” Dye on August 13, 1944 in Juanita, Nebraska and this union was blessed with three children, Robert, Donna and Dennis. Together they lived with Ralphs parents, Millard and Sarah Dye in the Mt. Clair area until moving to their farm in the Olive Hill area in 1947. She and Bud farmed until moving into Superior in 1998.
She was a member of the Olive Hill Church, the Jewell County Extension, the Missionary Fellowship, CWC Club, Olive Hill Ladies Aid, sold Avon for many years, enjoyed quilting, gardening and especially her flowers. She loved to read, do needlework, crafts, playing cards and cooking. She enjoyed her pets, especially her cat Timmy, that was her constant companion over the last 17 years. She was active with the Harrison Highlights 4-H Club, judged open class at the Jewell County Fair. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph “Bud” Dye on January 25, 1998, and infant brother, Leonard Dean, brother Robert W. and an infant sister Alice Marie.
She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Dye and wife Katherine of Beatrice, Nebraska and Dennis D. Dye and wife Nanci of Hebron, Nebraska; a daughter, Donna J. Hanna and husband Gary of Riley, Kansas, eight grandchildren, Jacqueline Denise England of Lincoln, Nebraska, Robert Bryan Dye and wife Lavon of Lincoln, Nebraska, Stephanie Lynn Allen and husband Leonard of Hoyt, Kansas, Jeremy John Hanna and wife Mary Amanda of Indianapolis, Indiana and Brady James Hanna and wife Lindsay of Shawnee, Kansas, Aaron Joel Dye of Somerville, Massachusetts, Craig Joseph Dye and wife Audrey of Bluffton, South Carolina and Brett James Dye of Omaha, Nebraska. Eight great-grandchildren, Calvin Dean Dye, Malena Lorraine Dye, Hanna Elizabeth Allen, Molly Jean Allen, Tyler James Hanna, Hailey Elizabeth Hanna, Steven John Hanna and Elliott Dean Dye. She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis I. Powers and husband Edward of Omaha, Nebraska, sister-in-law, Dora Danehey of Blue Hill, Nebraska along with a host of other relatives and friends.
