Jerome "JK" "Doc" Regier, 79, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 4:36 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014 suddenly, at his home. Jerome was born in Newton, Kansas on March 16, 1935, son of Mary (Koller) and Paul Regier.
Jerome attended Moundridge grade school, and graduated from Moundridge High School, Moundridge, Kansas. He then attended Bethel College, Newton, Kansas, and graduated from Veterinary School of Medicine Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas and received his DVM. He also was in the R.O.T.C. program.
He was a member of West Zion Mennonite Church Moundridge, Ks.
Jerome honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. Through the years Jerome worked for Dr. M.F. Scoby at Scobys Veterinary Clinic, and later operated his own practice, Countryside Animal Clinic alongside his wife and partner, Jean.
Jerome was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, KVMA, American Quarter Horses Association, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and was a former member of the AVMA.
Jerome K. Regier was united in marriage to Jean Bartley on June 12, 1960 at Great Bend, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together at Moses Lake, Washington while Jerome was in the Air Force. After his honorable discharge, they then moved to McPherson, Kansas.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over fifty-four years, Jean Regier, of McPherson, Kansas; his sons, Rick Regier and his wife Michelle, of McPherson, Kansas and Bart Regier and his wife Laura, of McPherson, Kansas; his sisters, Jean Regier, of Moundridge, Kansas and Kandyce Nelson, of Dallas, Texas; his 6 grandchildren, Brandon Schmidt and his wife Jaycey, Kale Regier, Dylan Schmidt and his fiancé Dani Cunningham, Mariah Regier, Cheyenne Regier, and Ross Regier; his 5- great-grandchildren, Makayla Schmidt, Madison Schmidt, Jacob Schmidt, Evan Cunningham, and Brexton Schmidt; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends are invited to call on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.
The memorial service will be held at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30th, with Reverend Harold Thiessen officiating.
The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas with members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 and American Legion Post 24 providing military honors.
