Susan Joyce (Heaton) Rose passed away June 24, 2014. She was born October 17, 1927 in Phillips County Kansas to Joe and Minnie (Garrett) Heaton.

Joyce graduated from Agra High School and, as a young woman, was employed by Gates Rubber Company in Denver.

She was united in marriage to Loyd Rose September 29, 1946.

A lifetime homemaker, Joyce loved singing with the Sweet Adelines and was active in her church, Emmanuel Methodist, where she served as secretary for many years.

Mrs. Rose is survived by her husband, Loyd, three children: Greg (Ann) of Abilene, Maurey (Jill) of Manhattan, Susan (Bob) Scheibler of Olathe; five grandchildren Matt and Kirk, Jason (Nicole), Laura, and Evan.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother Orin Heaton and sisters Ardys Powell and Thyral Crown.

Abiding by her wishes, cremation has been chosen and private inurnment at Cedar Cemetery, north of Agra, Kansas will occur at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Church in care of Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 N.W. Third Street, Abilene, KS 67410.
