Ruth Margaret Nielsen, 97, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:10 a.m., Wednesday, April 23rd, peacefully, at Brookdale Sterling House. Ruth was born in Nowata, Oklahoma on May 2, 1916, a daughter of Margaret Diane (Franz) and Judge John James "JJ" Heidebrecht.
Ruth attended the Inman and McPherson grade schools and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas.
She was a member of St. Annes Episcopal Church, McPherson, Kansas
Ruth was Homemaker and worked for the McPherson State Bank as a teller for 35 years. She was a dedicated Bridge Player while she lived in Liberal, Kansas. Ruth enjoyed eating and was a very good cook.
Ruth was united in marriage to Shinn Pigott in McPherson, Kansas. Ruth was united in marriage to Verner J. Nielsen on September 9, 1961 at Newton, Kansas. The couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas. They later moved to Liberal, Kansas in January of 1977. They moved to Sun City West, Arizona in 1987 prior to moving to Inman, Kansas in 1997, and they finally settled back to McPherson.

Several nieces and nephews
Other relatives and a host of friends
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Margaret Heidebrecht; brother Ralph Heidebrecht; sisters, Dora Pack, Hulda Stafford, Martella Olson and Alice Esau; a grandson Jeffrey Kennedy; and her husband Vern Nielsen; son-in-law Russell Kennedy.
The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Annes Episcopal Church, McPherson, KS, with Father Laird MacGregor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Annes Episcopal Church of McPherson or Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders in memory of Ruth and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
