Eunice V. (Blomquist) Gunzelman
Eunice V. (Blomquist) Gunzelman, 90, of Salina, Kansas, passed away April 21, 2014, after a short illness. She was born June 21, 1923, to Herman and Irene (Falk) Blomquist at the family farm home in rural Brookville, Kansas.
The family farmed there until displaced by Camp Phillips during World War II. They moved to rural Assaria, where Eunice graduated from Assaria High School.
She married Harry W. Gunzelman on May 20, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1988.
Eunice was a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She held several offices as well as being active in the altar guild and womens groups. She served as treasurer of Church Women United and also enjoyed being a part of the Friendly Neighbors Club.
Eunice was a great letter writer and loved family history. She crocheted, sewed, and quilted, and also had a green thumb for both flower and vegetable gardening. She loved being outside and she loved to mow. Eunice had a quick wit and was always ready with a clever comment.
She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina, Kansas, where the family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 255 S. 7th, Salina, with Rev Kent Happel officiating.
Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Assaria Lutheran Cemetery, Assaria, Kansas.
The family suggests memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
