LOYALL NEWELL, JR., 88 died March 6, 2014 at Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center, KS. He was born on July 20, 1925 in Clay Center, KS. The son of Loyall and Sara (Hammer) Newell, Sr.
Loyall "Pappy" Newell graduated from CCCHS in 1943.
He married Darlyene Regnier on August 10, 1947 and she preceded him on January 23, 2011.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He worked for the US Postal Service from 1958-1985. Along with a number of investors he opened the Clay Bowl. He owned and operated the Idle Hour and Newell Antiques. He was a member of the Lions Club, Optimist Club, American Legion, and Evangelical Covenant Church all of Clay Center. For many years, Loyall sponsored and coached Cookie League baseball teams. He organized the Idle Hour softball team. He was inducted into the Midwest Billiard Hall of Fame and Kansas Bowling Hall of Fame. He is also preceded by a sister Zola Newell.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Clay Center.
Officiating the service will be Pastor Grant Clay
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 10 from 3-8pm at the funeral home.
Memorials: Pappy Newell Scholarship Fund and sent c/o funeral home.
