Bernadino "Benny" Martinez, 82, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 6th, at Salina Regional Health Center. Bernadino was born in Deerfield, Kansas on May 20, 1931, to the late Mary (Moreno) and Francisco Martinez.

He was employed as an Iron worker at Metalcast for 33 years. He also worked for Morrison Grain and the Santa Fe Rail Road.

Benny was the husband of Ruperta M. Martinez, and an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include -
Wife: Ruperta
Son: Bernadino F. Martinez, of Salina
Step daughters: Liz (Mike) Collins, of Kanopolis Lake, Kansas
Clara (Mike) Jewell, of Wichita, Kansas
Step sons: Daniel Diaz
Herman (Candis) Diaz
Michael Diaz, all of Salina
15 grandchildren
24 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been chosen and there will not be any visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10th, 2014 with Father Frank Coady officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
