F. Lucille "Lucy" Johnson, 91, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 8:04 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 peacefully, at her home, McPherson, Kansas. Lucy was born in Marquette, Kansas on November 25, 1922, the daughter of Inez E. (Flohr) and Percy V. Peterson.

Lucy attended the Marquette Grade School and graduated from Marquette High School, Marquette, Kansas in 1940. She then attended and graduated in 1944 from Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas with a Bachelor of Music.

Lucy was a member of Freemount Lutheran Church rural Lindsborg, Kansas. Lucy was a homemaker and taught high school English and Music at Bird City and Goodland, Kansas. Lucy was a member of Chapter EU of P.E.O., Domestic Arts Club, and Progressive Literature all of McPherson.

Lucille Peterson was united in marriage to Charles Dean Johnson on November 28, 1946 at her parents home, Marquette, Kansas. Charles died on September 11, 2005.

Eleanor A. Walline, both of McPherson, Kansas

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Inez Peterson; a son, Dr. Thomas Seleen Johnson; and her husband Charles Dean Johnson.

At the familys request there will be no visitation.

The memorial service will be held at the Freemount Lutheran Church, rural Lindsborg, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 with Reverend Gerald Berggren and Reverend James A. Harrison officiating.

Private family burial will precede the memorial service at the Freemount Lutheran Church Cemetery rural Lindsborg, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freemount Church Foundation or the Johnson Lecture Series in care of Bethany College, both of Lindsborg, Kansas and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
