Jane “Jean” Schultz-Shinn 89, of Council Grove, former Herington resident, died Saturday, February 1st, 2014, at the Diversicare Nursing Home, Council Grove. She was born on Saturday, November 1st, 1924, at Liverpool, England, the daughter of Edward and Susan (Potter) Evans.

Christian Mass will be held at 10:30am Friday, February 7th, 2014, at the St. Johns Catholic Church, Herington; with Rev. Mark Wesely officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.

A Rosary will be held at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, Thursday, February 6th, at 7:00pm.

Mrs. Shinn was a homemaker. She began working as a waitress at Spikes Café, then Kashas Hiway Grill where she served the “Harlem Globetrotters” one snowy evening, and finally worked as a Nurses Aide at the Lutheran Home in Herington for many years.

She married Adolf Schultz in Liverpool, England, and he preceded in death on October 2nd, 1967; and later married Henry Shinn, and he survives of the Diversicare Home in Council Grove.

She is also preceded in death by four (4) brothers, and two (2) sisters.

She is survived by -
Four (4) sons: Gordon Schultz (wife-Alice)
Eric Schultz (wife-Patty) both of Wichita
James Schultz (wife-Charlotte) of Hope
Brian “Pete” Schultz (wife-Gloria) of Herington
Two (2) daughters: Marie “Sue” Biehler (husband-Larry) of Herington
Beryl “Berry” Wendt (husband-Glenn) of Salina
Step-son: Steven Shinn (wife-Renee) of Salina
Three (3) step-daughters: Linda Edwards (husband-Steve)of Emporia
Sandra Little of Madison, WI
Joyce Martin of Azie, TX
