Lewis  Bert  Franklin

Lewis Bert Franklin, 86, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 18th, at Salina Regional Health Center. Lewie was born in Rural Salina, Kansas on August 8, 1927, son of the late Mabel Genevieve (Ashman) and Ernest Charles Franklin.

He was also a member of the Plumbers & Fitters Union and taught apprentice plumbing in Salina. Lewie worked for a Kansas City firm where he was a project engineer with government jobs across the United States for around 40 years. Before retiring, he worked for Waters True Value in the plumbing department for 13 years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Cross, Salina.
On December 22, 1961, Lewie married Phyllis Haaga at the United Methodist Church of the Cross.

Three daughters: Jan Curley and husband William, of Denver, Colorado
Diana Wood: of Riverside, California
Terri Mattison, of Salina, Kansas
Son: Jerry Franklin, of Salina, Kansas
8 grandchildren
8 great grandchildren
2 great great grandchildren

Lewie is preceded in death by brothers, Clarence Franklin, Raymond Franklin, and Charles Franklin; and 1 grandchild.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas, with Rev. Kevin Franklin officiating.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lewies name to the Salina Animal Shelter 329 N. 2nd Salina, Kansas 67401 or Girl Scout Troop #20945, c/o Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Lewie and Phyllis adopted a dog from the Salina Animal Shelter for pet therapy for Lewie. The pet therapy really helped him.
