Obituary

Kermit K. Hawley, 75, of McPherson, KS passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at his residence in McPherson.

He was born January 21, 1938 in McPherson, the son of Clinton and Maxeline (Switzer) Hawley.

Kermit worked for over 42 years at McPherson Post Office as a carrier and window clerk. He married Susan Peterson on December 31, 1981 in Hutchinson. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1956; and also attended McPherson College.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 50 year volunteer with the Kansas Babe Ruth Baseball Leagues, and served on the board of McPherson County Humane Society.

Survivors include:

Wife: Susan of the home
Daughters: Kathy Morse of Independence, KS, Christine Roark of McPherson, KS, Sandy Lawless and husband Henry of Canton, KS
Son: Don Hawley Peterson and wife Shari of Houston, TX
Ten grandchildren
Six great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Carl John Lawless, and a step-son, Robert Alan Peterson.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kate Johnson Martin officiating.

Inurnment will take place in McPherson Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family to receive friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorial donations can be made to McPherson County Humane Society or First United Methodist Church.
