Obituary

Leroy (Bud) Cowing, 86, of Clay Center, KS, passed away December 14, 2013 at Medicalodge in Clay Center.

He was born November 20, 1927 in Clay Center, KS the son of James and Clara (Ritter) Cowing.

Bud was raised in Clay Center. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad, Fellers Dairy, Clay Center Fire Department, Key Egg Farm and 17 years with the Clay Center Street Department. He married Inez Moore on April 21, 1975 and she preceded him in death on October 17, 2010. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Bates, a son Larry Cowing and three sisters.

Survivors include:
Son: David and wife Aurora Cowing, Topeka, KS
Daughter: Wanda Ortiz, Gautier, MS
Step-Daughter: Charlene and husband Dan Carlile, Indianola, IA
Nine grandchildren
Three step-grandchildren
Many great-grand and great-great grandchildren

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center.

Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Clay Center Volunteer Fire Department c/o the funeral home.
