Jerry (Dokey) Short, 69, of Salina, passed away Dec. 3rd 2013 at Salina Regional Health Center.
He was born Nov. 14,1944 in Hutchinson, KS to Lewis M. and Rachael Jean Short.
He was raised in Burrton, KS and graduated from Burrton High School in 1962. He served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967 and was stationed in Alaska. February 1, 1969 he married Barbara OGrady in Halstead, KS. Jerry was employed by Buick/General Motors for thirty-eight years. Jerry enjoyed hunting, spending time with his eight grandchildren, genealogy, and golfing. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Bennington, KS; his daughters Cindy (Steve) Fowler of Littleton, CO, Kristy Short of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Petey (Dan) Eshleman of Salina; his grandchildren who called him (Dokey), Stephani, Janessa, Casey, and Abbie Fowler; Haley and Cole Lynch; and Avery and Addison Eshleman; brothers Allen Short of Hutchinson, KS, Phil (Annie) Short of Burrton, KS, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Larry Short and sister Lu Jean Socha.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, at Ryan Mortuary.
Memorial donations were chosen for the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance and Hospice of Salina.
