Tom Hobson, 88, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 1:35 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 while in the company of family members, at Alterra Sterling House.
Tom was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 4, 1925, a son of Ruth (Jennings) and Wilmon Hobson.
Tom attended the Lanarc grade school and Haverford High School, both of Havertown, PA.
Tom attended First Christian Church McPherson, Kansas.
Tom served in the U.S. Navy as a Motor Machinist 1st Class in WW II. Tom received the Asiatic Pacific, American Area, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Points.
Tom was a mechanic for Blackburns Garage Company in Upper Darby, PA. He then enlisted in the United States Navy where he honorably served his country. After returning home from the service Tom started working for Hallaberton Company as a truck driver. through the years he became a cementer, acid treater, and tool man.
In January of 1956 he then was an owner and operator and Acid Treater of Central Acid Service, of McPherson, Kansas along with his partner, Norman Hammeke and later, Wallace Wittenberg. He then started Central Service until his retirement in 1988.
Tom was a member of the American Legion Post 24; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 both of McPherson.
Thomas C. Hobson was united in marriage to Margaret C. Netherton on February 22, 1946 at Treasure Island, California.

Wife: Margaret Hobson, of McPherson, Kansas his loving and caring wife of over sixty-seven years
Sons: T. Clifford Hobson and his wife Deborah, of Huntsville, Alabama, Jim L. Hobson, of Slidell, Louisiana, and Jeff Hobson and his wife Donna, of Grand Junction, Colorado
Eight grandchildren: Cris Ford and his wife Ginger, Angie Myers and her husband Beau, Jesse Hobson and his wife Wendy, Alex Hobson, Nate Hobson and his wife Casey, Autumn Tolegano and husband Brandon, Holly Goodman and her husband Dale, and Logan Hobson
12 great-grandchildren: Tyler Hobson, Ariana Hobson, Joe Hobson, Rhrett Penner, Colton Fast, Beau Myers, Aidan Myers, Keylea Myers, Carlin Goodman, Ella Goodman, Teegan Hobson, and Bryce Hobson
One great-great-granddaughter: Dixie Penner

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Margaret A. (Peg) Ball; a sister Joyce Hobson; and a daughter in-law Joanne Hobson.
The memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.
Final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.
