William G. (Bill) Howser, 85, of Abilene, Kansas passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene.

He was born October 8, 1928 at Armourdale, Kansas City, KS, the son of Clyde and Vera (Esther) Howswer.

He joined the Marines in 1945 serving for two years, and later joined the army. He served in WWII and the Korean War. He was part of the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101th Airborne Division.

On November 21, 1951 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Monroe in Shawneetown, Illinois. She preceded him in death May 25, 2011.

Bill worked in the Civil Service at Ft. Riley for 22 years as a radio instructor. He was a member of the Amateur Ham Radio Association (call name W0fur) and also a 32nd degree Mason.

He is survived by:
Sons: Dough Howser of Dresden, Tennessee, David Howser of McPherson, Kansas and Larry Howser and wife Diane of Abilene
Grandchildren: Taylor Morgan Howser, Michaela Howard and Ethan Howser
Great-Grandchildren: Haydn and Rylan Howard
Brother: Lloyd Howser of Melbourne, Florida

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Marjorie, a son, Ronald Howser and a brother, Harold Howser.

Funeral services for Bill will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 11, 2013 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene with pastor Justin Panzer officiating.

Burial will follow in the Abilene Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-7 P.M. Friends may call any time after 9 A.M. on Sunday.

Memorials may be made out to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital and may be sent in care to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.
