Marjorie P. Oard, 97, of Wakefield, Kansas passed away November 1, 2013 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS.

She was born October 18, 1916, the daughter of John and Ruby (Burt) Cherry.

Marjorie grew up in the Niles community and attended Longford High School. She taught school in Manchester and Niles.

She married Rudolph (Rudy) Oard on August 17, 1939 and he preceded her on December 29, 2012. She is also preceded by two sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter.

She worked at the Ft. Riley Post Exchange as manager from 1955-1975 and then worked for Foleys in Clay Center.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekahs, where she served as State Officer and the Wakefield Library Club.

Survivors include:
Daughters: Trudy and husband Mick Zurmely, Junction City, KS and Sherry Bergmeier, Wakefield, KS
Son: Terry and wife Linda Oard, Salina, KS
Brothers: Bob Cherry, Hereford, AZ and Ronnie Blake, Augusta, KS
Sister: Marcella Craig, Norco, CA
Grandchildren: Nine grand, 18 great-grand, and one great-greatgrandchild

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 10:30AM at the United Methodist Church in Wakefield, KS with Pastor Will Kenyon officiating.

Burial will be held at the Rose Meron Cemetery, Clay County, KS

Visitation is Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 5-7PM at the Wakefield Funeral Home.
