Obituary

James Kenneth (Ken) Fallis, 90, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 3:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 peacefully at his home.

Ken was born in Charlotte, Arkansas on July 27, 1923, son of James Northcraft (Churchill) and Thomas L. Fallis.

Ken attended the Charlotte grade schools and graduated from Charlotte High School, Charlotte, Arkansas. He then attended a Junior College in Batesville, Arkansas prior to enlisting in the United States Navy during W.W.II. He honorably served his country as a Lt. and returned to Arkansas where he graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas with his business degree.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church McPherson, Kansas.

Through the years Ken worked as store manager for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Kansas City and worked in numerous locations for 13 years until 1960 when Ken and Joan purchased White Tire and Supply in McPherson and later worked alongside their son David.

Ken was a life member of American Legion Post 24, life member of the V.F.W. Post 2715, past president and longtime member of the Lions Club, and was a member and past Master of Masonic Lodge #172 all of McPherson. He was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the IsIs Shrine Club and Scottish Rite Bodies of Salina, Kansas.

Ken enjoyed golfing and taking his grandchildren with him to the course, playing bridge every Tuesday at the McPherson Senior Center, volunteering at the McPherson County Food Bank, delivering Meals on Wheels, and loved visiting friends in nursing homes and those shut in at home.

James Kenneth (Ken) Fallis was united in marriage to M. Joan Bretall on August 29, 1954 at Sedalia, Missouri.

He is survived by:
His loving and caring wife of over fifty-nine years, Joan Fallis, of McPherson, Kansas
Children: David Fallis and his wife Sindie, of McPherson, Kansas, Elizabeth (Beth) Robinson and her husband Tom, of McPherson, Kansas, and Douglas Fallis and his wife Diane, of McPherson, Kansas
Brother: Don Fallis and his wife Inez, of Orange, California
Brother-in-law: James Barnett, of Batesville, Arkansas
Three grandchildren, Lindsey Grose and husband Don of Rogers Arkansas, Austin Russell of McPherson, Kansas, and Daniel Fallis of McPherson, Kansas
Several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law David Orrin (Dave) Russell; sister, Lois Barnett and an infant grandson, Jacob Wakefield Russell.

The memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 with Reverend Karen Rice Ratzlaff and Reverend Harold E. Nelson officiating.

The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.

In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or McPherson County Food Bank in memory of Ken and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
