Vonnie Eaton, 79, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 3:55 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013 while in the company of family members, at Cedars House.

Vonnie was born in McPherson, Kansas on December 19, 1933, a daughter of the late Mildred Edna (High) and Ernest David Campbell.

Vonnie attended the Palco Grade School, Palco, Kansas, Conway Grade School. Conway, Kansas, and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas. She then attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.

She attended First Christian Church McPherson, Kansas.

Through the years Vonnie worked on the family farm, was a meter maid in Wichita, worked for a Veterinarian in California and for Southview Veterinary Hospital in McPherson, was a dispatcher for the McPherson County Sheriffs Office, worked for a couple local farmers and retired after 16 years working for Dillons in McPherson as a checker. She always had a smile for everyone.

Vonnie loved all kinds of animals and through the years helped many animals in need. She enjoyed camping and farming with Paul and the family.

LaVonne Nadine (Vonnie) Campbell was united in marriage to George Paul Eaton on May 24, 1980 at the Monitor Church of the Brethren at Conway, Kansas. They established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas. Paul died on February 3, 2010.

Siblings: Verlin Campbell and his wife Julia, of McPherson, Kansas and Marlene Loving and her husband Harlon, of McPherson
Son: Earlin Gene Broadbent and his wife Kim, of Gladstone, Oregon
Grandchildren: Emmery Hush and her husband Spencer, of Gladstone, Oregon and Justin Broadbent and his wife Krystal, of Gladstone, Oregon
Two great-grandchildren
Niece: Justina Kay Campbell, of Topeka, Kansas
Nephews: Laurie Dale Campbell, of McPherson, Kansas and Tony Dean Loving and his wife Shelly, of McPherson, Kansas
Her canine and feline companions, Taco and Milo
Other relatives and a host of friends.

Vonnie was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Paul Eaton.

Friends are invited to call on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.

Graveside Service will be held at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.
