Forrest Dwight Shivers, 89, passed away October 30, 2013 at Medicalodge, Clay Center, Kansas.

He was born on July 7, 1924 in Clay County, KS, the son of Wilmer and Minnie (Siemers) Shivers.

Forrest attended school in Clay County. He married Gladys Bletcher on April 30, 1950. They farmed in Union Township near Wakefield, KS. He also drove a school bus for USD #379 for 25 years. He is a former member of the Christian Church in Wakefield.

Forrest is preceded in death by a sister, two brothers, a great-granddaughter, and great-grandson.

Survivors include:
Wife: Gladys Shivers, Clay Center, KS
Daughters: Dolores Burchett, Clay Center, KS, Janet and husband Dowell Burchett, Longford, KS
Sons: Lanny and wife Joyce Shivers, Clay Center, KS, Ken and wife Beverly Shivers, Clay Center, KS, Robert Shivers, Clay Center, KS
Grandchildren: 10 grand and 15 great-grand

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 7th St., Clay Center, KS.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel in Clay Center with Pastor Matthew Coleman officiating.

Burial will be held at Greenridge Cemetery, Dickinson County, Kansas.

Memorials can be made to the Forrest Shivers Memorial Fund to be designated later c/o the funeral home.
