VanDaDon (Vandy) Brent, 85, of Abilene, Kansas died October 23, 2013 at Village Manor in Abilene.
He was born May 23,1928 in Alton, Kansas the son of Norman D. and Freda G. (Stivens) Brent.
VanDaDon grew to manhood in the Alton community and attended local schools.
He served in the Army during the Korean war and is a member of the American Legion post 0049 Osborne, Kansas. Returning from active duty, VanDaDon joined the operation of the Sun Flower Inn Hotel Osborne, Kansas until 1979.
An avid amateur photographer and historian he also enjoyed the hobby of stamp collecting and playing golf.
VanDaDon was active in many community and national associations. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, The National Audubon Society and North Shore Animal League. He also enjoyed volunteering at Osborne County Historical and Genealogical Society serving as secretary in 1985.
He remained in Osborne until moving to Abilene, Kansas in 1999, where he resided with his sister Eleanore until her death in 2006.
In 2007 VanDaDon joined Brookdale Senior Living at Sterling House and in 2013 became a resident of Village Manor as his health required more specialized care.
Proceeding him in death were his parents Norman and Freda Brent of Osborne and sisters Normaze J Brooks, Garden City Kansas and Eleanore M Green Abilene, Kansas.
The Family will have a memorial service at a later date.
