Arthur L. Ehrlich
Arthur L. “Lyle” Ehrlich, 77, of Salina, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, in his home, surrounded by all of his loved ones. Lyle was born in Russell, KS on September 1, 1936 to Wava and Arthur “Art” Ehrlich.
Lyle grew up in the Russell area and attended school in Russell and Wilson. During this time he met and fell in love with Helen “Lorece” Branch and the two were united in marriage on September 12, 1956. Lyle and Lorece were blessed with four children, daughter Pamela (Williams); son Jon and wife Carla; daughter Teresa and husband Kevin (Dinkel); and daughter Suzy and husband Joel (Seed) all of Salina.
Lyle worked at Red Dale Coach Co in Colorado and in Texas during the early years of their marriage. After fourteen years with the company, the family moved back to Russell to be closer to family. During this time he was employed at Red Tiger Drilling in Russell as an assistant manager. In 1988, he began working for Eldorado Bus Co in Salina until his retirement in 1999.
After retirement, “Papa” enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his family. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grand children that always managed to keep him busy smiling and laughing.
He also enjoyed doing many household projects and carpentry work in his own home as well as helping his family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.
He also enjoyed golfing and took every opportunity possible to be on the golf course. He loved his dogs and always made time for them. He enjoyed a good game of solitaire on his computer, or even those spontaneous road trips.
Lyle was a true family man and a great friend, he will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Cremation was chosen. There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Ryan Mortuary.
