Florence N. Hogan-Burris, 96, Salina, died Thursday, September 26, 2013. She was born April 19, 1917 in Garfield, Kansas to Arthur and Leila (Riley) Eddy.

She earned a B.S. in Education from Emporia State Teachers College and a Masters degree from Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas. She began her teaching career in Pawnee County, Kansas. Later, she became a teacher for the Department of Defense and taught three years in Adana, Turkey; one year in Taiwan; and sixteen years at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines.

In 1985, she moved to Salina, Kansas and soon attended First Covenant Church, where she was active in making comforters for missionary work and served as a childcare worker during services. She also worked for the food bank and was a master gardener.

Florence was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Hogan; her second husband, William Burris; a daughter Delores Hodson; and a grandson, Brian Hodson.

Florence is survived by -
Grandson: Randall Hodson and his wife, Paula, of Wichita
Son-in-law: Larry Hodson of Plano, Texas
Two great-grandchildren
Nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at First Covenant Church, 2625 E. Magnolia, Salina.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, Florence requested memorials to First Covenant Church.
