Walter F. Otte, 86, of rural Herington, died Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013, at the Medicalodges of Herington. He was born Sunday, November 21st, 1926, on the family farm near Lincolnville, the son of Ernest Henry Christoph and Bertha Albertina (Krause) Otte.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Friday, July 26th, 2013, at the St. Johns Lutheran Church, Lincolnville, with Rev. Troy Slater officiating.
Burial will follow at the Lincolnville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 25th, from 7:00pm until 8:00pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mr. Otte was a farmer & stockman, and he was also a skilled carpenter. He was a life time member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church; where he was baptized and confirmed. He loved his family, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, & square dancing.
He married Katherine Bell Bishoff on May 16, 1947, at Lincolnville; she survives of the home.

Viola Hubbard (husband-Wayne) of Herington
Five (5) grandchildren: Scott, Kevin, & Patrick Thrift
Amanda, & Stacy Otte
Two (2) step-grandchildren: Jenna Powers & Jeffry Prafke
Four (4) great grandchildren: Taylor & Haley Thornhill
Preceded in death by his daughter Dianna Thrift-Gillett (02/02/2002); a sister Verna Peterson (02/05/2008); three (3) brothers: Elmer Otte (01/06/2011), Raymond Otte (09/09/2005), & Wilbert Otte (during WWII-05/04/1945-buried at sea); and his parents.
