Claire Adelaide Spicer, 80, of Salina, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center in Salina with family by her side. She was born November 14, 1932 in Bunkie, Louisiana, the daughter of Clement and Eunice (LeBoeuf) Bourg.

Claire was a homemaker and a musician at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church for many years, playing the guitar and piano. She also volunteered her musical talents at local nursing homes, delivered Meals on Wheels, and served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Her interest in politics led to her serving as a Democratic precinct chairwoman and working many elections.

She married James E. Spicer on August 12, 1955, in Bunkie, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband James on April 20, 2013; brothers Clement Bourg, Jr. and Hubert Bourg; sisters Enid Bourg, Faith Vann, Eunice Lineberger, Fabia Bourg, and Sister Geraldine Bourg.

Survivors include -
Two sons: William (Cynthia) Spicer of Wichita
J.P. (Maria) Spicer-Escalante of Logan, Utah
Daughter: Mary (Richard) Hammel of Manhattan
Brother: Malcolm (Susan) Bourg of Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Four grandchildren: Lauren (Cole) McDaniel

Brett Spicer
Dani Spicer-Escalante

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina.

Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the mortuary, with family greeting visitors from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Salina and may be sent to or left in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street, Salina.
