Clara D. Leiker
Clara Dorothy (Marty) Leiker, age 90, of Salina, Kansas, passed away June 26th, 2013 at Good Shepherd House in Manhattan, Kansas. Family was at her bedside. Her parents, Herman Henry Marty and Amalia Catherine Sophia (Von Fange) Marty gave birth to Clara July 28th, 1922 in Beverly, Kansas. She was the youngest of seven children which included Emil, George, Oscar, Edwin, Selma, and Alma. The family moved to Salina soon after her birth.
On June 17th, 1940 Clara was united in marriage to Henry John Leiker. They remained happily together in Salina for 70 years until Henrys death in 2010. Their five children are Larry E., Curtis J., David L., James E. Leiker, and Deborah A. Carter.
Clara was a devoted wife and mother. She was grandmother to Sean Leiker, Kevin Leiker, Christina (Leiker) Kohl, Donovan Leiker, and Caitlin Leiker, and great grandmother to five.
Clara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Salina for 60 years where she was active with her quilting and sewing circle of friends.
Clara was preceded in death by Deborah in 2008 and Henry in 2010. She was the last surviving of her brothers and sisters.
Clara will lie in-state for visitation Sunday, June 30th from 1:00 until 7:00 PM at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel in Salina with family in attendance after 5:00 PM.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 1st at the First Presbyterian Church, 308 South 8th street.
Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 East Crawford immediately following the service.
