New Tool for Child Care Providers

Child Care Aware of Kansas launches the states first statewide professional development calendar.

The calendar has been created to allow child care providers across Kansas to find trainings available in their area or anywhere in the state. All trainings offered statewide are included in this easy to use calendar. This valuable resource can be accessed on the Child Care Aware of Kansas website at www.ks.childcareaware.org.

To meet the licensure requirements set forth in Lexie’s Law, child care providers across Kansas are seeking professional development trainings. “We are excited that this statewide calendar will help child care providers meet their professional development needs,” said Leadell Ediger, Executive Director of Child Care Aware of Kansas. “In addition to the professional development needed to obtain a new child care provider license, this calendar will help providers meet the five additional hours that are required annually for licensure renewal.”

Child Care Aware of Kansas is the administrator of the statewide Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) network that focuses on three key groups: parents and families, child care providers and early learning staff, and the community. Professional development is just one of many ways in which the CCR&R network works to improve the quality and availability of child care in Kansas.
