Motion Filed To Try Teen As Adult

The Saline County Attorney’s Office wants to prosecute a 14-year-old  girl accused of stabbing her 13-year-old sister as an adult.

Sierrra Niehaus appeared in Saline County District Court Friday morning with her attorney Bob Thompson. Her parents, and her paternal grandmother were also in the courtroom.

Sierra, who is accused in the death of her 13-year-old sister Galazia, is facing First Degree Murder charges.

Judge Patrick Thompson said that a motion has been filed to prosecute Sierra as an adult. He set a date of November 7th at 9am to hear arguments from both sides. After that, he will decide if Sierra will be charged as an adult or a juvenile.

The case stems from the death of 13-year-old Galazia Niehaus. The Saline County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a stabbing at about 1:45 in the morning on Friday, August 1st. When deputies arrived at the scene in Northwest Saline County they found the body of Galazia, who had been stabbed to death. Sierra and Glazia Niehaus were both students in the Ell-Saline school district.

Sierra will continue to be held in the Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Junction City.
