McPherson College Mourns Loss of Student Athlete

McPherson College is mourning the loss of a student athlete. In a release the college says it is deeply saddened by the death of football student-athlete Braden Bush.

“Braden was a great teammate, friend and leader,” said head football coach Paul Mierkiewicz. “He was the kind of young man every coach would want to be around. He will be always in our thoughts and prayers”

“We are extremely saddened to learn of Braden’s passing,” said Andrew Ehling, McPherson College Director of Athletics. “Braden was a wonderful young man who brought a fun-loving energy to the McPherson College community. Our love and prayers will be with Braden’s family, teammates, and all who knew him.”

Counseling services in McPherson are available at no charge to students. Those seeking services are asked to call (620) 241-2300 to set up an appointment.

A candlelight vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday evening (June 18) on the 50-yard line at McPherson Stadium. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
