Man Sought on Federal Drug, Firearms Charges Found

A manhunt leads to two arrests.

Salina Police found 33-year-old Dustin Reavis hiding in a suspended ceiling at the Econo Lodge and 44-year-old Boyd Hatfield crouched down in a construction trailer near K-mart on Tuesday evening after the two exited a stolen car they were in.

The search began when an officer on patrol attempted to pull over the 2002 Cadillac that Hatfield was driving in the 1100 block of Apache around 9:40pm.

Police say he accelerated – driving up to 70-miles per hour through 30-mph residential zones until abandoning the car in the 600 block of Whittinghill.

Salina Police, Saline County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol all assisted in the search.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that Reavis was being sought on a federal warrant for drug and firearms charges out of Wichita.

Reavis allegedly eluded officers back on October 18th after he stole a car and entered a woman’s basement during the pursuit.

The woman was not hurt. Officers later found hallucinogenic mushrooms in the 1999 Chrysler 300 he left behind in a driveway in the 700 block of S. 9th.
