Man Sends Barefoot Girl into Snow

A 9-1-1 hang up leads to the arrest of a Salina man for endangering a child.

Police officers were sent to a home in west-central Salina Sunday night around 10:15pm after a woman called for help, and then hung up as a child was heard crying in the background.

Police arrested 27-year-old Alegro Edwards for endangering a child and domestic battery.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that when officers pulled up they saw Edwards blocking a barefoot girl and a woman in her 20’s from entering the home.

Police say the woman called for help when Edwards shoved the grade school aged girl outside into the snow with no shoes.

Officers say he then grabbed the phone from the woman and pushed her outside in 7-degree weather.

The victims required no medical treatment.

Police say alcohol played a role in the incident.
