Man Hit With Propane Bottle, Gun

A Salina couple are arrested following a disturbance where one of them is hit in the head with a propane tank and with a gun.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that 23-year-old Christine Rice and 29-year-old Michael Tanuis were involved in a disturbance in an apartment at 2660 Highland early Sunday morning. During the disturbance, Rice allegedly hit Tanuis in the head with a propane tank, and with a gun. Tanuis allegedly hit Rice in the face, and grabbed her neck.

Tanuis sustained a bump on the back of his head, a bump on his forehead, and lacerations. He was treated and released at Salina Regional Health Center. Rice was not seriously hurt, and did not require treatment.

Sweeney says that officers found illegal prescription drugs, marijuana, a small amount of meth, and drug paraphernalia at the apartment in a purse, in a backpack, and in a safe. They also found several guns.

Rice and Tanuis were both arrested.

Rice could face multiple charges including aggravated battery, making criminal threats, and drug charges. Tanuis could face multiple charges that include battery and drug charges.
