Man Hit By Train Survives

Shawnee County authorities say a man who was hit by a train simply got back up and kept walking.

Sheriff Herman Jones says the conductor of a BNSF train saw the man walking on the tracks Thursday. He and tried to slow down and blew the horn but the train eventually hit the man.

Jones says the conductor said the man was quickly back up and walking, while talking on a cellphone.

The man, identified as 25-year-old Kristopher Wenberg, apparently called someone, who took him to a hospital. He suffered cuts on his legs and shoulder.

Authorities say Wenberg told deputies he had headphones on and didn’t hear the train.

It is against the law to walk on train tracks and Wenberg would be cited for criminal trespass.
