Man Facing Drug Charges after Running from Police

A driver who jumped from a moving car leaving a gun behind in the seat is arrested early Thursday morning.

Police arrested 20-year-old Blake Nicol of Salina, after officers cleared a hotel room at the Village Inn on South Broadway.

According to Captain Mike Sweeney, Nicol allegedly ran away from police early Wednesday morning after officers attempted to make contact with him in the 600 block of University.

Thursday at 2:44am, an officer on patrol was able to identify Nicol after he exited a van and ran into a hotel room at 432 S. Broadway. Police knocked on the door and were told by occupants inside that he was hiding in the bathroom.

Captain Sweeney tells KSAL News that Nicol then ran out of the room and was taken into custody in the parking lot.

Police found 4 baggies with over 22 grams of methamphetamine along with digital scales in the bathroom.

Nicol is now facing multiple charges that could include possession of meth with intent to sell and fleeing and eluding police.
