Man Goes on Rampage, Eats Neighbor’s Dinner

A Salina man was taken into custody after a rampage that ended when he locked himself in his neighbor’s home.

Police arrested 28-year-old Brandon Doherty after he left a trail of destruction at his rental property and kicked a flat screen TV inside a house across the street.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that officers were called to 413 Missouri on Wednesday night at 9pm after centered the house and locked the door.

Police say the property owner, Jon Davis was working in his backyard and called police when he noticed Doherty inside.

Officers used a key to enter the house and discovered Doherty had kicked a 42-inch Sony TV, knocking it into a window.

He also ate his neighbor’s meal – consuming a hamburger while inside.

Investigators also discovered Doherty had ransacked the home he rents across the street at 412 Missouri. Police allege he kicked holes in the walls, broke two sliding glass doors and damaged the blinds.

In the detached garage he also damaged windows and sheet rock before moving onto the vehicles. The fuel tank on a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle was dented.

Police say he also caused extensive damage to a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle that was parked in the driveway, smashing windows, mirrors and kicking multiple dents into the side.

Doherty is now facing multiple charges that include burglary, theft and criminal damage to property.

Total loss and damage is estimated at $5,650.
