Police are investigating after a man was allegedly attacked from behind while walking in Central Salina.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney says that the alleged incident happened in the  900 block of University, at around 8:00 Tuesday night.

Adam McElwain, 26, told officers that he was hit from behind with a blunt object and knocked to the ground. He was then beaten in the head and face while on the ground, until he lost consciousness.

According to Sweeney, McElwain returned to his home on S. College after regaining consciousness, and called police.

Officers are looking for a known suspect.
