Man Accused of Hitting Female Acquaintance

Police arrest a Salina man after a woman is allegedly choked.

Officers found 44-year-old Douglas Williams hiding under a mattress in his house on Wednesday.

Police say Williams struck a woman in the face and destroyed her cell phone as she held an infant during a disturbance in a north Salina home on Tuesday morning.

The woman told officers she tried to yell for help out an open window in the bathroom – when Williams allegedly choked her, then held her mouth shut until she promised to be silent.

Police report the female infant was not hurt during the incident.

Williams is now facing multiple charges that include battery, aggravated intimidation of a witness, damage to property and interference with a law enforcement officer.
