A man has been arrested in connection with alleged sex crimes involving a child.

Police say that 54-year-old David McCaughtry was arrested Wednesday for an alleged sexual assault against a female preteen acquaintance. The alleged assault happened in west Salina sometime after July 2015.

A different law enforcement agency notified Salina Police about the incident.

McCaughtry could face charges that include rape and aggravated criminal sodomy.
