Lottery Has Million Dollar Unlcaimed Prize

Kansas Lottery officials are urging residents to check their pockets, dashboards and bags to see who is holding a Powerball ticket worth $1 million.

Lottery spokeswoman Sally Lunsford says Tuesday that the ticket is valid only through Jan. 27, 2014, one year after it was sold.

Lunsford says it is unusual for the lottery to still be holding the winnings for such a large prize, though it frequently has several unclaimed $10,000 prizes that aren’t quickly claimed.

The winning Powerball ticket was sold somewhere in southwest Kansas. The winning numbers are 3-22-26-41-49 with the Powerball of 18. To win $1 million the ticket must match the first five numbers drawn but not the Powerball number.
