Lifetime Quilter Opens Business

A Salina woman has turned her love of quilting into a business. A ceremonial ribbon cutting this week signaled the start of a new Salina business.

The name says it all. Smoky Hill Quilting is all about quilting.

Owner Becky Peterson has been sewing for 46 years, and quilting for 33 years. She can do most everything, from beginning piecing to finish decorative quilting.

Smoky Hill Quilting has a 14’ computerized Tin Lizzie longarm quilting machine that creates thousands of designs, as well as any manual individualized design. It can accommodate small pieces such as baby quilts or small wall hangings, and very large California king sized quilts.

Smoky Hill Quilting can also repair and finish any vintage quilt that might need a little love and attention.

Peterson says “quilts are works of love, art pieces that are to be treasured, respected and enjoyed.”
