Leadership FIRST Award

Area leaders gathered Friday at Salina’s Community Theatre for encouragement, new ideas and a boost at the end of the workweek at Leadercast Salina 2015.

The event was highlighted by big screen appearances by Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai, authors Seth Godin and Andy Stanley plus former Navy SEAL Commander Rorke Denver.

Organizer Matt Davis with Third Strategy tells KSAL News that the event originates from Atlanta with 6,000 people on hand and is beamed around the world with 160,000 taking part in real-time. “It’s a mix of interviews and speakers and events,” he said.

Courage in Leadership

This year NewsRadio 1150 KSAL and First Bank Kansas joined forces with Leadercast Salina in the search for those who inspire and make a positive impact on their community. The public was asked to go to KSAL.com and nominate people and organizations who were exhibiting courage as a pathfinder.

Mike Reid, Sr. Military Adviser at St. John’s Military School is the “2015 Leadership First Award” recipient for his tireless work encouraging young men at the school in Salina.

Reid has been on staff at St. John’s for 13-years and holds a Masters Degree from Kansas Wesleyan University. Known throughout the community for pitching in, Mike has spent countless hours volunteering on community projects, traveling on tornado relief crews and was the first head coach of the Salina Bombers professional football team.
