Leaders Learn

Leaders from around the area will come together next month during the Leadercast Salina 2014 event at the Salina Community Theatre, to learn and be inspired by their peers.

Organizer Matt Davis with Third Strategy stopped into the KSAL Morning News Thursday with a look at what keeps leaders out in front, “Leaders are readers,” he said.

“Leaders are also learners. A true leader is someone who wants to be around people that are coming through different experiences – who have walked through different challenges that maybe you don’t have.”

Some of the guest speakers this year include; author Andy Stanley, Archbishop DesmondTutu and former First Lady Laura Bush.

This year is also a chance for local leaders to be recognized through the first ever Driven to Give Back Award. Leadercast Salina, NewsRadio 1150 KSAL and Long McArthur Ford are asking for nominations of people who make a positive impact in one of three categories; Community, Business and Inspirational.

Davis added that some of the criteria to consider is how are people are impacting other leaders, “What are you doing to make things happen, that are creating that change in people’s lives?” he said.

The Leadercast Salina Driven to Give Back Award is based on the following criteria.
1. Exhibits leadership abilities and encourages teamwork.
2. Promotes enthusiasm and brings energy to the workplace or the community.
3. Exhibits professionalism at work and in the public sector.
4. Has achieved growth personally or professionally through a leadership role.

Nominations can be found at KSAL.com and can be printed out and delivered or emailed for consideration.

Awards will be given to outstanding leaders in 3 categories. Community, Business, and Inspirational. Award in each category will be awarded on Friday May 9th at Leadercast Salina.
