KSU Salina To Remember, Honor Instructor

KSAL Staff - February 22, 2015 6:53 pm

The K-State Salina family will honor a beloved instructor who was killed in a plane crash late last year. The school is planning a special event this coming Friday to remember and honor Charlie Sojka.

Sojka died back in November when a plane he was piloting crashed near Booneville, Missouri. He and his family were headed back home to Salina.

According to KSU Salina, Sojka was a “deeply admired faculty member”. The school is planning a recognition service on Friday.  The campus will gather at 2:00 pm in the College Center Conference Room for a brief program, and to share memories with Sojka’s family, co-workers, and friends.

Along with Sojka’s family, friends, former students, and faculty will all participate in the event to remember, and celebrate Sojka’s life and legacy.

Charlie Sojka, my brother, was the best man I’ve ever known. He was a wonderful, happy little boy and a protective, smart and great young man all through school years. My aching heart is somewhat soothed by the honor that K-State offers my brother. Thank you so much to all.
