The Kansas National Guard is headed to Puerto Rico.

Sixty members of the guard’s 242nd Engineer Company departed for the island yesterday to help with recovery efforts following Hurricane Maria.

The guard members will spend 30 days assessing damage and removing debris left behind by the storm.
