Kansas Woman Dies after Being Hit by Car

Associated Press - June 4, 2014 12:20 pm

Harvey County authorities say a 28-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car.

The sheriff’s office says the accident occurred Tuesday afternoon just west of Newton, about 25 miles north of Wichita.

The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office says a 28-year-old woman from Newton was hit by a westbound car. The Wichita Eagle reports that a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office says the woman might have been jogging when the accident occurred.

The driver, a 40-year-old Halstead woman, was uninjured. She stopped after the accident and called 911.

The accident is still under investigation. The woman’s name has not yet been released.
