Kansas Wind Farm Approved

Authorities in northeast Kansas county have approved plans for a wind farm project.

Nemaha County Commission on Monday adopted a resolution approving a conditional use permit and wind farm district. That decision came after a public hearing, where 11 county residents voiced both support and opposition to the project.

Florida-based company NextEra Energy Resources is behind the project. Company officials say they will move forward once they have a buyer for the electricity that will be produced.

The construction plan includes 40 wind turbines to be erected in parts of four townships in Nemaha County.
